Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament:
7:00 AM to 11:00 PM Daily
One of the biggest dreams of our late dear Father Matt was his establishment of "Perpetual Adoration" of the Blessed Sacrament. Of all his goals, this devotion was on the very top of his list and depended on his people to continue this superior prayer of the church. I, too, want to keep this devotion in the forefront not only for Fr. Matt's memory sake but also that this parish will continue to receive phenomenal graces from God by adoring and sacrificing time. However, I have noticed that there have been some hours in adoration where no one was present, just Jesus . This cannot be, since Canon Law expects us to preserve the integrity of the Sacrament by always having at least two adorers present at all times. For the last two months this has not been achieved. There are some gaps in the sign-up sheets, and this cannot continue to slip.
As your pastor and shepherd, I must maintain that if these hours are not filled, I must adjust the hours accordingly to give quality visitation, not quantity, and so as not to violate Canon Law which maintains a visitor must be present at all times, and to avoid "perpetual exposition" and actually have "Perpetual Adoration." I will be monitoring very carefully the sign-in sheets to make a final determination of hours of Adoration. Be advised, in no way am I thinking about closing down Adoration, but, perhaps, relieving the early hours where gaps are apparent. Please talk up this devotion with your Catholic friends, encouraging them to "Spend One Hour" with our Blessed Lord. May Jesus now move you to say, "Come Let us Adore Him!"
